First performed as the “Showcase Production” for the Virginia Theatre Association Convention in 2000. Carolyn, a young woman who always seems to fall for the wrong man, decides to give up men and falls in love with the statue of David. She manages to spend the night in the museum to be closer to him, only to find that he and several other statues - Venus de Milo, Diana the Huntress, and the Thinker - come to life at closing! They are quick to understand her troubles and, with the unwitting help of security guards Don and Ben, and Don’s girlfriend Amy, set about teaching her lessons in love. Add in Don’s Grandmother, who, armed with a hammer, a chisel, and some fig leaves, is determined to “clean up” the art world, and the stage is set for delightful after-hours session in the museum. Thoughtful, funny and fun, Love Lessons provides challenges for young actors, a great time for audiences, and success in competitive venues.
